The Professional Police Officers Credit Union is a financial institution owned totally by “YOU”, our members. YOUR voice at the Annual Meeting elects our Board of Directors.

The Professional Police Officers Credit Union is committed to helping YOU achieve your financial goals and at the same time protecting YOUR privacy. Under federal law, we are required to tell you how we collect, share and protect your personal information.

WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU AND HOW WE COLLECT THAT INFORMATION---

  • Social Security Number and information we receive from you on applications, membership forms and other forms
  • Information about your transactions with others or us
  • Information we receive from a consumer-reporting agency
  • Information obtained when verifying the information you provide on the application or other forms, such as: from your current or past employers or income or payment history where you conduct financial business
  • We collect your personal information, for example, when you open an account or apply for a loan, apply for insurance or apply for financing.
    Information about your transactions with us or others.

WE DO NOT DISCLOSE ANY NONPUBLIC PERSONAL INFORMATION ABOUT YOU TO ANYONE, EXCEPT AS PERMITTED BY LAW.

We will adhere to the privacy policies and practices as described in this notice if you decide to terminate your membership or become an in-active member.

WHAT WE DO TO PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

The Professional Police Officers Credit Union restricts access to your personal and account information to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you to conduct business. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information. Federal law gives you the right to limit only: 1) sharing for affiliates everyday business purposes; 2) affiliates from using your information to market to you 3) sharing for nonaffiliates to market to you.

REASONS WE CAN AND DO SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION IN WHICH YOU CANNOT LIMIT SHARING

For our everyday business purposes –

  1. Processing transactions
  2. Maintaining your account(s)
  3. Responding to legal investigations and court orders
  4. Reporting to Credit Bureaus
  5. Offering products and services

REASONS WE CAN BUT DO NOT SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION

  1. Joint marketing with other financial companies
  2. Affiliates everyday business purposes such as information about your transactions, experiences or credit worthiness.
  3. Affiliates to market to you
  4. Nonaffiliates to market to you

Definitions:

  1. Joint Marketing-a formal agreement between nonaffiliated companies that together market financial products or services to you.
  2. Affiliates-Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial or nonfinancial companies.
  3. Nonaffiliates- Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial or nonfinancial companies.

PROFESSIONAL POLICE OFFICERS CREDIT UNION does not share with affiliates, nonaffiliates or jointly market information.

WAYS FOR “YOU’ TO PROTECT YOUR PRIVACY - -

  1. Use forms of ID other than a Social Security Number.
  2. Withhold unnecessary information when filling out surveys, etc.
  3. Shred papers containing your personal information.
  4. Remove your name from unsolicited marketing lists. You can call 888-567-8688 and have your name removed from prescreened lists from the big three credit bureaus—Equifax, Trans Union and Experian or visit online at www.optoutprescreen.com. This should reduce the number of offers.
  5. Remove your name from many national mailing lists by writing to the Direct Marketing Association’s Mail Preference Service, P.O. Box 9008, Farmingdale, NY 11735-9008. Include your name, address, and phone number with your request to be taken off mass mailing lists.
  6. Make sure you know who and what is being pulled from your checking account AUTOMATICALLY.
  7. Protect your account numbers, credit card numbers, PIN or passwords – Never keep your PIN with your credit card.
  8. Order a copy of your credit report from a couple different credit-reporting agencies every year. Here’s a list of the three national credit bureaus: Experian 888-397-3742, Equifax 800-685-1111, and Trans Union 800-888-4213 or visit www.annualcreditreport.com to obtain your credit report online. Verify that your credit report is accurate and that it includes only activities you’ve authorized.
  9. Keep your address current. Please let us know if your address or phone number changes.

Our site’s application and Internet Branches Enrollment form require user’s to give us contact information such as their name, address, phone number and email address.

Our site uses online application forms for members to request information, products and services.

We collect member’s unique identifiers such as their social security number, financial information such as their account numbers, and demographic information such as their zip code, age or income level.

Financial Information, which is collected, is used to check the user’s qualifications for obtaining a loan through PPOCU.

PPOCU does not collect “cookies” on its website. A “cookie” is a small file that is placed on the user’s computer. While it contains no member information, it identifies the member’s computer and allows PPOCU to measure usage of the website and customize the website experience.
